Trainees enrolled in CET have a numbers of rights, which must be observed and respected by CET Staff and other Trainees. These rights include the following:
- Reasonable, independent action in the pursuit of learning.
- Access to varying points of views and free expression of those views.
- Truthful information on all subject matter relevant to the Trainee’s progress.
- Full disclosure and orientation regarding all Centre practices, policies and regulations.
- Full disclosure, instruction and training in all Centre safety and emergency procedures.
- Protection from conditions harmful to learning or to health and safety.
- Protection from intentional exposure to embarrassment, disparagement or verbal and physical harassment from Centre Staff and other Trainees.
- Access to an environment of personal safety; free from drugs, intoxicants, weapons and physical threats.
- Non discrimination on the basis of race, colour, creed, gender, national origin, marital status, political or religious belief, family, social or cultural background, disability or sexual orientation.
- Access to fair participation in any of the centre’s academic, social or sports programme.
- Access and fair participation in representative self-government and to develop leadership skills, including the right to organize, conduct meetings, elect officers and representatives and to petition the Centre’s Manager and Advisory Council.
- Fair payment for the work carried out of sale or service to the public.
- Non disclosure of academic records or personal details, except as required by law or requested by the Trainee or the Trainee’s Parents/Legal Guardians.
- Pursue established grievance procedures in the event that any of these rights are violated or in any case of disciplinary action initiated against a Trainee.
