Being bilingual is a skill that most workplaces require or is an asset for everyone seeking employment. At Cayo CET, not only do trainees learn a trade, but we ensure that they have all the necessary skills to excel in any workplace. This course is designed to help trainees develop their reading and writing. Many skills are combined and used so that each trainee can achieve the required goal: reading, speaking, writing, and listening. These skills help trainees not only to read and speak English but to communicate fluently. Through oral presentation, discussion, and role-play, trainees will practice and build their vocabulary; building their vocabulary assists trainees in their everyday writing and reading. At the end of this course, the objective is for every trainee to acquire English as a second language.

Nuria Aguirre
Instructor
Born in the beautiful flatlands of Corozal Town but raised among the hills of San Ignacio Town, Cayo District. At the age of 23 years, I decided to venture into the teaching profession since it had been my desire ever since. I could recall Writing on my mom’s Celotex wall division from our home and teaching my little sister all I had learned that same day at school; this inspired me to become a teacher. As an English instructor, I started teaching at Cayo Centre for Employment Training in January 2020. Every day is a learning experience, and with the experience gained each day, I strive diligently to cater to all the needs of the trainees, and with each need comes help; that’s why I have engaged myself in teaching ESL (English as a Second Language). This class consists of a combination of skills, such as integrating acquisition and improving all four skill areas of English: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This is made possible by having trainees practice and building their vocabulary while writing and speaking. This helps each trainee have the opportunity to succeed in life and also have them perceive that the future is in our hands.
