Programme Description

Tourism Hospitality Management Level One program provides trainees with fundamental skills, knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions required to establish professional relationships with clients before, during, and after their arrival, take reservations, communicate efficiently, intervene in safety and security matters, and prepare, cook and present different arrays of food and drinks professionally. The course consists of modules such as Orientation to the Tourism Industry, Occupation and Work, Basic Front Office Procedures, General Housekeeping, and Cleaning Operations, Dining Room Service, Introduction to Bartending, and Pantry Cooking among others. The timeline of the program is 9 months which includes a 1-month practical training with an industry stakeholder. Upon the successful completion of this course, trainees are equipped with all necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to allow them to gain employment and excel in the Tourism, Hospitality Management, and Service Sectors.

My name is Golda Perez, and I am the Tourism Hospitality Management Level 1 Instructress at Cayo Centre for Employment Training (CET) in San Ignacio Town.
My goal is to help and assist trainees to develop the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes that will give them a marketable advantage to provide excellent service in the tourism industry. Additionally, I aim to motivate and inspire trainees to find their niche in this sector that is filled with numerous growth opportunities and to follow their dreams – whether it’s a dream job or start their own business, thus; creating new market opportunities for the community.
