Technical drawing is the practice or skill of delineating objects in a precise way using certain techniques of draftsmanship as employed in architecture and engineering. In the first trimester of technical drawing, trainees get to know various drafting instruments used and to use them properly. They are introduced to simple drawing techniques like bisecting lines, bisecting angles, perpendicular and dividing lines into equal amount and number.
In the new era of technology, we have introduced computer-aided design (CAD) in our line of studies. Trainees are introduced to a program called AutoCAD which is a well-known drafting program used worldwide by architects, engineers, and designers. For the second trimester, trainees use the program to create simple drawings likes polygons and orthographic projections.
Lastly, for the third trimester of the school year, we continue using AutoCAD to create more advanced drawings such as isometric projections, perspectives and developments. The isometrics and perspectives is a 3D view of objects and this is where trainees are tested to use mental visualizations to create the required objects.
