My Tourism Hospitality Class

  • Categories Uncategorized
  • Date March 9, 2015

My tourism hospitality class is one of the most awesome classes ever. We learn many different things such as bartending, sewing, waiting tables, catering of events, monitoring the dining room area, wine and beverage settings, and many more. We also learn a lot about our beautiful country Belize. My class once catered for the Heritage Bank and we once did the Rotary Gala. We also get involved with community service tasks, for example, the entire class once visited the Octavia Waight Center to help work for a day. My tourism hospitality class has never been a boring class.

After graduating from the University of Belize with an Associates’ Degree in Business Administration in 2001, I joined the workforce in various capacities at one of Belize’s leading institutions – the Social Security Board. After 11 years of quasi-governmental experience I then started teaching at the Cayo Centre for Employment Training in 2012. It is here where I developed an appreciation for human interaction and for the freedom, creativity and spontaneity inherent in the job. Since then I’ve become part of a strong technical / vocational team which has never ceased to grow and develop. My roles have included teaching information technology Levels 1 and 2 and its application to the various trade programs and assisting with the financial running of the institution; all of which I thoroughly enjoy to this very day.
